the sweatshirt--the beast
his sweatshirt was the only barrier between the world and his bones
because the remnants of what's underneath he doesn't want you to know
you see he doesn't want you to see so he raises his hand like everyone else
he believes that you and me don't deserve to see what's underneath
with his hands raised he accepts that things will never change
and with his hands raised God laughed and said.."I know a better way"
he said to the boy, who's palms we're crying,
he said to the boy who's eyes were sweating
why were they doing that
he didn't believe the words that were being spoken anyways
he was convicted and convinced he wasn't ever gonna live again
the girl came around and helped quite a bit
but she can't inject the medicine he needs, into his veins
even the doctor submits, and admits they're just growing pains
you're just growing up
they're just growing pains
you have peace and hope
but you've sure seen better days
where to go, and what to do
how to end him and to go on with you
and picking up sticks, seven years ago, a kid
full of life and full of energy
now he can't look in the mirror
without getting angry
this place that he's stuck in
a stupid hole, of feeling useless
but a smile and a "I'm sorry"
keeps everybody clueless
